Dr. Jit Bahadur Gurung
Sociologist
Dr. Gurung has done Ph. D. in sociology from the University of the Philippines, Dilleman in 1996, MS (Extension Education with interdisciplinary specialization in international development) and diploma in community development. University of Missouri, Columbia, USA (1984-1986) and B.Sc. (Honors) Agriculture, Haryana Agricultural University, Hissar, Haryana, India (1971-1976).
Serving as an adviser in Danida supported project. Served as an undersecretary (technical), Monitoring and Evaluation Division of Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) for two years. Served as an Agricultural Extension Officer, Acting Agricultural Development Officer, Assistant Agricultural Development Officer and Assistant Livestock Development Officer in Ministry of Agriculture for more that fifteen years.
Has an extensive experience in social researches. Served as an advisor in Discrimination and Forced Labour of Occupational Castes in Nepal for ILO. As a team leader conducted various social studies like `The Condition of the Dalits (Untouchables) in Nepal: Effects of Various Development Interventions' for UNDP, and `Status of Birth Registration in PLAN’s Program Areas in Nepal' for Plan International. Served as a team member in Third Party Review of BPEP-II for Ministry of Education and Sports. Involved as a team member in various social researches, mid-term evaluations, baseline studies and impact evaluation studies.
Has
participated in various seminars like professional career enhancement and
project post-evaluation undertaken by the national and international organisations.
